Mathematics and Quantitative Reasoning are challenging areas for many alternative schools. Organizations in the AHSI network are committed to providing rigor, relevance, and relationships in every academic subject. The AHSI Math & Quantitative Reasoning work group is a forum for organizations committed to developing a culture of numeracy in our high schools with a focus on: interdisciplinary/cross-curricular approaches, social/emotional development & school environment.
The work group exchanges information on promising and effective teaching and learning strategies, web-based resources, and other sources of information, as well as testimonies of students who are benefiting from innovative learning experiences.
The key desired result of the Math & Quantitative Reasoning Work Group is:
To develop a culture of numeracy in our high schools (with a focus on):
- Interdisciplinary/cross-curricular approaches
- Social/emotional development
- School environment
