The Association for High School Innovation creates pathways and expands options to future success for all youth. AHSI was formed in 2003 as the Alternative High School Initiative with generous support from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
AHSI operated independently as a national network of youth development organizations through June 30, 2011. As of July 1, 2011 AHSI is no longer an active network but invites viewers to benefit from resources and information on this website, learn about the history of AHSI, and connect with our thriving member organizations.
The New AHSI Enterprise
For the last three years AHSI has pursued business models that would allow us to continue as a formal network advancing models of effective, innovative education for students who have not done well in the traditional school system. The economic downturn and the shifting of national focus to other initiatives have prevented building the assets needed to establish an ongoing organizational structure for AHSI. Read the letter of formal closure here.
